New Year but the same old.

Things in the Janish house haven’t really changed that much with the turn of 2012.  Cooper is sick with a respiratory illness and is being treated with a nebulizer.  Laila is fighting, probably, the same thing.  Steve and I haven’t slept much in the past week because of Cooper’s coughing and his lack of sleep.  It has been a rough time in our homestead, in terms of rest.    Steve was out of town for a week for a work trip and that was pretty rough on me with the kids not feeling well.

Hopefully, we have it all figured out and are on the mend.  Steve and I are starting to brainstorm fun ideas for Laila for Valentine’s Day!  If you have any, let me know!

orry we haven’t been posting much…two kids is kicking my butt! :)   Cooper is nearly 8 months old and loving his real food. He is an eater just like his sister was!  Laila is in gymnastics now and is absolutely LOVIN’ that!  I am going to try to get some video and photos of her this week at class.  (If I can get her to stand still for more that one second!)

Thanksgiving Road Trip Extragavanza!

Today we are embarking on our Thanksgiving Road trip.  Although not nearly our longest trip. ( That was the Summer on 2010 Vegas/Dallas/Minnesota circuit of 39 hours of driving plus many many stops!)

This will be the first trip with our newest family member, Cooper!  We are so happy to have him along for the ride and in our new vehicle we should have plenty of room for the four of us.  The plan is to leave today at 3 pm and drive to Iowa City to stay with at the Jensen home.  That will take about 6 hours of the trip.

Monday we will drive from Iowa City to Louisville, KY taking about 8 hours.  And the final leg of the first portion of the trip (whew) will be another 8 hour haul from Louisville to Danville, VA.   We are hoping to arrive before 9 pm on Tuesday at the grandparents doorstep.  Weather and babies permitting, of course! :)

Snuggle Time and Story Time!

This is when we made Turkey Handpuppets!

The Sickness Settles In….

It has been a rough few weeks for the Janish family.  Laila had been sick for about a week when Cooper started to cough.  Not a good sign.  We took them both in last Sunday and it turns out….they both had walking pneumonia.  Luckily, we caught it early enough where only a round of super antibiotics cures them.  The day after the kids perked up…momma got sick.  I am pretty sure I don’t have the “washington petunia” as Laila calls it.  She also called it “washington tamale” and a few other silly things.  If I don’t feel better in a few days I will head in to the doctor as well.

Thank God for my amazing husband.  He has stayed home from work and has been really picking up ALL the slack around the house.  He is such a good provider and caretaker. :)   He didn’t even complain when Laila coughed on his birthday pumpkin pie.  :) We love you!

Happy Fall!

I love this time of year.  The leaves change beautiful colors and then crunch beneath your feet.  I adore the smell of the leaves after they have fallen off the trees.  Almost a musty, earthy smell that makes me think of pumpkins and scarves and snuggling on the couch with apple cider. :)   Sound delightful, no?  :)

Here is a picture to make you jealous that you don’t get to look out MY front window everyday!

This weekend we are planning on take Laila to the pumpkin patch to continue the yearly hunt for the perfect specimen to carve up.  She is quite particular about her pumpkin selection.  This Monday is also Steve’s 31st Birthday! Woo Woo!  I love birthdays and am excited to celebrate another year of my favorite person in the world!

Here are some pictures from the past week of the kiddlings.

Please don’t scold me for all the camera phone pictures.  I do realize that I have a REAL, fabulous camera.  I just can’t seem to find the time to get it out.  I am working on that.  It is my October goal! :)

Aren’t my babies simply wonderful?  :)

Guess how much I love you?

A lot. :)   I love my babies!

(cooper is 4 months old!)

4 months of beautiful baby!

Cooper had his 4 month check up this week.  He actually made 2 trips to the doctor’s office.  We went in on Monday because we suspected he had an ear infection.  He did.  :(   This is his first and it worries my greatly.  I had chronic ear infections, along with other ear issues, and Laila has had chronic ear infections.  The likelihood of Cooper having ear issues and requiring tubes is pretty high.  I am hoping it doesn’t happen and I am realistic that it will.

Once he got on the meds, he was a happy baby again…until Thursday.  He got his round af vaccinations and between that and the antibiotics his little body is dealing with a lot right now.  He is weathering it like a champ and just needs lots of extra snuggles.

Our pediatrician says he is wonderful.  He is 14 lbs and 7 oz which is 30th percentile for weight.  He is 90th percentile for height!  He is eating like crazy and talking up a storm.  He hasn’t attempted to roll over yet and we are ok with that. :)   I like that I can set him on the floor and not find him under a change upon my return.  :)

Big sister, Laila, has been taking such great care of Cooper this week.  She did, however, ask me if we could return him for a “girl one”.  I explained to her that Cooper was here to stay and that she wouldn’t REALLY want to return Cooper would she?  She said that no, she really wouldn’t want to because “he is MY baby”.  :)   Good answer, good answer.

:)   Here is a picture of my beautiful babies.  This was Cooper’s first time in his high chair today!  He LOVED it!

17 weeks old and a bundle of squeals

Cooper is now 17 weeks old.  It is hard to believe that much time has passed since he arrived in our family.  He is so funny and he makes all of us laugh on a daily basis.  He still definitely looks like Laila and is becoming more of his own little man everyday.  He has learned that he can use his voice for other things besides crying.  (Which he does not do very often actually.)  He has started in the past week squealing at the top of his voice to get our attention.  They are happy squeals and screams…and they are LOUD.  If you go talk to him he usually stops or at least takes it down a few notches.  :) But he definitely is letting us know he is there and he wants our time.

We love him so much and are so bless that he is in our family.

Auntie M holds the Janish babies tight!

Our Auntie M is a sucker for those Janish babies :) Here are the lucky kids with their adoring, beautiful Aunt Marissa.

We love her and miss her. She has also had an EXCITING summer!  A new nephew to snuggle, an engagement (woo woo!), a trip to the Midwest and a trip to Greece!  It will be hard to top this summer for sure!

My tiniest traveler

Cooper loves his car seat (thank heavens!).   He is such a good baby and falls asleep in the car nearly all the time.  He is not a fan of that pesky, mean sun though!  I love him more each day that goes by and I already can’t imagine my life without him.

Cooper is nearly 11 weeks old! Can you even wrap your brain around THAT?!

4th of July!

We had a great 4th of July weekend!  Scott and Tanya came in from Maryland to visit and meet Cooper!  We went to a Twins game and Laila had a blast.  It was far too hot for little Cooper though. :(   Here is a picture of our little patriot on the 4th.  He is 5 weeks old!

Laila loved the fireworks and her favorite phrase to say (instead of oooohhh and ahhh) was GO “MERICA! :)
